Domestic Violence

Definition of Domestic Violence: Any abusive, violent, coercive, forceful, or threatening act or word inflicted by one member of a family or household on another can constitute domestic violence.

Stalking

Definition of Stalking: Engaging in a course of conduct that would cause a reasonable person (and actually causes the victim) to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, or harassed. NRS 200.575

Harassment

Definition of Harassment: Threats to injure the person or property of another person and using words or conduct that places the person receiving the threat in reasonable fear that the threat will be carried out. NRS 200.571.

Sexual Assault

Definition of Sexual Assault: Subjecting another person to sexual penetration, against the will of the victim or under conditions in which the perpetrator knows or should know that the victim is mentally or physically incapable of resisting or understanding the nature of the conduct. NRS 200.366

Battery

Definition of Battery: Any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another. NRS 200.481

Assault

Definition of Assault: Intentionally placing another person in reasonable apprehension of immediate bodily harm. NRS 200.471.

Kidnapping

Definition of Kidnapping: Detention, concealment or removal of child from the person having lawful custody or from the jurisdiction of court. NRS 200.359.

Abuse and Neglect

Definition of Child Abuse and Neglect: A person who willfully causes a child who is less than 18 years of age, to suffer unjustifiable physical or mental suffering as a result of abuse or neglect, or to be placed in a situation that causes physical pain or mental suffering as a result of abuse or neglect. NRS 200.508.

Definition of Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation or Isolation of Older Person: Infliction of pain, injury or mental anguish on an older person, or deprivation of food, shelter, clothing or necessary services, or a person in a position of trust obtaining control, through deception, intimidation or undue influence of an older person's money, assets or property with the intention of permanently depriving the person of their money, assets or property, or intentionally preventing an older person from having contact with another person, including personal visits, mail or telephone calls. NRS 200.509.
